Responsibilities: Accounting Technician - Conservator Account Auditing Program About the Job Accounting Technician Conservator Account Auditing Program SALARY: Hourly $17.11 - $25.67 Annually $35,725.68 - $53,598.96 OPENING DATE: 12/20/12 CLOSING DATE: 01/06/13 11:59 PM DESCRIPTION: The Minnesota Judicial Branch is seeking to fill one full-time and one part-time Conservator Account Technician position for the Conservator Account Auditing Program (CAAP) to work from the District Administration office located in Ramsey, MN. This an unrepresented position and is being posted internally and externally simultaneously. This position will work under the direct supervision of the Conservator Account Audit Manager to perform simple professional level financial, operational, or compliance audit projects within the Minnesota Judicial Branch to determine the adequacy of court filed accounts, reliability of financial information, compliance with statutes, Judicial Branch Rules, and Judicial Council Policy and Procedures. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.) Participates in or performs all stages of an assigned account audit including planning, field work, report writing, and audit follow-up. Attendance at account allowance hearings may be required. Performs audit procedures in accordance with established Judicial Branch work programs and the Generally Accepted Auditing Standards or other professional auditing standards as may be appropriate. Identifies and defines issues, researches criteria, reviews and analyzes evidence, and develops audit observations and written recommendations. Assists court personnel, parties and the public; answers inquiries; provides guidance and input with respect to account issues. Provide education and guidance on the current on-line accounting software system to conservators, court administration and other clientele as needed. Educate conservators of record keeping requirements to ensure that they are aware of their obligation to maintain books and records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Pursues professional development opportunities including professional association membership and internal training TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, abilities and skills listed): Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance or related field or three years' experience reviewing annual conservator accounts or three years' audit experience in reviewing, and analyzing financial documents, preparing work papers, and drafting audit reports. Highly organized and detail oriented. Ability to work independently. Ability to effectively communicate with conservators, court and judicial personnel. Some travel to court locations across the State of Minnesota may be necessary. Successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal background check prior to appointment. Successful candidate will be required to serve a probationary period upon appointment. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: SALARY RANGE -and-amp; BENEFITS: $17.11-$25.67per hour ($35,726-53,599) annually.
