(Koinonia pronounced "coin - oh - nee - ah") is a 501 (c)(3) Christian non-profit human services organization providing short-term emergency assistance and self-sufficiency services to the individuals and families of the Greater Kingstowne/Franconia area. We provide emergency assistance with food, clothing and a financial safety net. We encourage self-sufficiency by offering counseling and education to break the cycle of poverty. Position Overview : Koinonia is seeking to increase awareness of its existence and mission among members of the community, local churches, businesses and civic groups. This will require an Executive Director (ED) who, working with Koinonias Board of Directors (the Board), can effectively and efficiently manage day-to-day operations and strategically position it in the marketplace in order to increase the donor base necessary to support and grow its operations. The ED works closely with the Board to carry out the mission and goals of Koinonia and reports to the Chairperson of the Board. The ED is responsible for the overall administration and management of Koinonia and the office, including but not limited to fundraising and organizational operations. The ED will be charged with managing the day-to-day operations as well as increasing Koinonias capacity to raise funds to support its general operations, write grants, and oversee programs and services to people impacted by short-term financial emergencies. The ED will play an active and vital external role for Koinonia, serving as its public face. In partnership with the Board, staff and volunteers, he/she will create a strategic plan for all communications and public/media relations and will take an active role in the implementation of that plan. Responsibilities : The specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Passion for the Mission ? Demonstrated commitment to serving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior ? Demonstrated commitment to serving people who are in need Leadership and Strategy ? Accomplish the Mission and Vision of Koinonia in a way that embodies Koinonias organizational values ? Create an organizational culture that reflects the priority to serve every person in a caring, Christian manner ? Establish excellent working relationships with the Board, staff, volunteers and other key partners serving as the primary liaison ? Work within Board established guidelines overseeing all aspects of human resources ? Exercise stewardship of Koinonias financial and in-kind resources ? Coordinate with churches, individuals, businesses, Fairfax County government, local nonprofits, local schools, the media, and other organizations to build and maintain positive relationships that can further Koinonias Mission and Vision ? Create and implement a development plan to competitively position and market Koinonia to retain and lift current donors and increase the donor base required to increase financial revenues ? Report regularly to the Koinonia Board by participating in strategic planning and in the work of several Board Committees, and presenting financial and operational accounting at monthly meetings of the Board ? Identify and recruit new Board members with a focus on those with a passion for the mission and the ability to significantly contribute to the achievement of Koinonias strategic and revenue goals Finance/Management/Operations ? Develop annual revenue and expense budges presenting them to the Board for approval ? Monitor financial actuals against projections proactively advising the Board of variances ? Manage all aspects of the day-to-day cash flow and donations overseeing all staff and volunteers who provide this function ? Manage and develop staff and volunteers by assigning work, setting clear performance goals, evaluating progress and correcting any deviations; perform client interviews in absence of social worker ? Recruit and train staff and volunteers as necessary ? Oversee and manage the outside auditors to ensure that all aspects of the audit, including completion of 990s, are carried out correctly and in a timely manner ? Manage all legal aspects of Koinonia including but not limited to state and federal filings, insurance and responses in coordination with the Board ? Attend regular meetings of other partner organizations Development/ Fundraising ? Develop and implement a comprehensive approach to fundraising that optimizes opportunities/relationships with significant revenue potential, leveraging relationships with churches, individuals, businesses, local government and civic organizations ? Write materials including but not limited to monthly direct mail appeals, Newsletters and community releases ? Seek sources for and prepare grant requests and proposals ? Plan, coordinate and lead fundraising event efforts ? Oversee management of donor management system so that data is timely, accurate and consistently recorded in accordance with development, financial and regulatory policies Marketing/Communications ? Create a marketing platform to ensure differentiated and compelling message that is consistently used in all communications ? Oversee the creation, production and delivery of all marketing and communications materials (newsletters, website, annual report, donor communications, correspondence, etc.) ? Devise and implement innovative marketing strategies including social media Job Requirements Education: Bachelors degree required, preference given to candidates with Masters or other post-graduate degrees in business, social services and related fields Experience: Expression of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior Prior experience in Christian ministry Non-profit required with minimum 5 years management / leadership history Leading a development function with comprehensive fundraising operation Financial management of an organization Skills: Ability to articulate the mission to a variety of stakeholders Initiate public relations plans in the community Knowledge of social networking Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Quickbooks, Access; Giftworks preferred Proven grant writing success Demonstrated ability to oversee financial management of organization Excellent written and oral communication skills including ability to make effective presentations to groups of people Application Process Please submit your rsum to [click on "Apply Online" button] .
