Responsibilities: Associate Financial Economist, Capital and Emerging Markets Policy About the Job The Institute of International Finance is the worlds largest global association of financial institutions with over 450 members in more than 70 countries. We provide economic analysis to our members, act as a vehicle for exchanging views on global regulatory issues, and serve as a forum for engaging the private financial community in discussions with the public sector on global financial policy issues. The Institute is seeking an individual with very strong analytical and writing skills to contribute to the production of regular reports covering financial market issues across a range of asset classes including fixed-income, equities, currencies, and money markets and across geographies with a particular focus on Europe and major emerging markets. S/he will also support the work of several IIF committees and working groups; provide assistance in the preparation of reports and presentations for various meetings and special projects related to the work of the Capital Markets -and-amp; Emerging Markets Policy (CEM) Department; and work with senior IIF staff and the CEM staff to support IIF initiatives relating to capital/financial markets. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant and progressively responsible experience in financial market and/or economic research, and be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently in bringing together data, charts and well-written analysis.A good understanding of and interest in financial markets, banking sector analysis, and the impact of broad macroeconomic developments on financial/capital markets is critical for this position. Event planning experience and ability to interface with senior level individuals in both public and private sectors is also helpful. Applicants must also have outstanding writing skills; a minimum of a master's degree in economics or related field; the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; exceptional computer and research skills, as well as excellent organizational skills.
