Responsibilities: Senior Financial Analyst About the Job New EnglandCenter for Homeless Veterans The New England Center for Homeless Veterans is the nation's largest provider of services to homeless veterans. Through a vast array of services dealing with such diagnosis as PTSD, substance abuse and chronic homelessness, the Center, with its educational, training and outreach programs, helps over 2,000 veterans a year obtain the skills necessary to become independent citizens in today's workforce. Job Summary: The Accountant/Financial Analyst Assists the CFO and Controller in their fiduciary role of preserving all the assets, tangible and intangible, and finances of NECHV and the reporting of them to all responsible parties on a timely basis and according to all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities: The Accountant/Financial Analyst Assists the CFO and Controller in the monthly closing process. This process includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: post and deposit all cash receipts, reconcile bank accounts, prepare and post journal entries, prepare and update various monthly and as-needed account and trend analyses, prepare and distribute (as needed) monthly billings for SRO Rents/Program Fees, prepare and distribute (as needed) all monthly reporting to the respective recipients, assist in annual budget preparation and posting, serve as back-up person for payroll preparation and submission, attend meetings (as required), assist in annual year-end audit. post monthly standard journal entries and populate them with the correct financial information including prepaid insurance, prepaid other and depreciation, update the respective analyses for prepaid insurance, prepaid other, accrued other, temporarily restricted net assets and depreciation on a monthly basis and in a timely manner, complete the Development Department software reconciliation to the general ledger software income summary for the Development Department on a monthly basis and in a timely manner, complete the monthly audit committee reporting package and all schedules included therein on a monthly basis and in a timely manner. Other Skills and Experience needed: Undergraduate degree (from an accredited institution), major in Accounting or Finance 2 to 5 years of applicable accounting experience Prior experience in a non-profit setting (preferable) Proactive and analytical problem solving skills Organizational skills and attention to detail Essential Functions: Accounting knowledge, skills, education and experience Ability to use a computer Familiarity with business software computer programs Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines Ability to sit for extended periods of time Customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to carry deposits to the bank Please forward resume and salary requirement to: [click on "Apply Online" button] NECHV is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
