Job Types: Controller Job Description THE COMPANY: Redbarn Pet Products, (Redbarn or the Company), headquartered in Long Beach, California, is a growing manufacturer of premium dog treats. The Companys product creativity and continuous effort to provide the highest standards of service and quality has driven the Companys success in the pet industry. THE ROLE: The Controller will report directly to the President of the Company. The Controller will be a key member of Redbarns management team. The Controller will lead the financial operations of Redbarn Pet Products including the following specific duties: - Ensure accurate and timely monthly closings and provide operations analysis and variance explanations. - Maintain the Financial Accounts and Records of the Company in accordance with GAAP and assist in the completion of required regulatory filings as well as act as primary liaison with external auditors. - Oversee all aspects of the companys cash flow position and accounting operations including cost and inventory accounting, accounts receivables, credit and collections, accounts payable, fixed assets accounting, etc. - Lead the annual budgeting and planning process for control of operations including, profit planning, programs for capital investing and financing, sales forecasts, expense budgets and cost standards together with necessary controls and procedures to effectuate the plan. - Assure protection for the assets of the business through internal control, internal auditing and assuring proper insurance coverage. - Provide managers and departments with information required to carry out their assigned responsibilities such as periodical review of production standards, product costing, physical inventory, product pricing policies and generating of reports. - Provide advice and financial counsel to the President of Redbarn Pet Products, approves all agreements concerning financial obligations and is a partner in the continuing development of the business strategy and positioning the operations for revenues and earnings growth. THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate will have a bachelors degree in accounting with a minimum of 10 years experience in manufacturing and international operations accounting with proven expertise in the following areas: Financial Reporting and Analysis; Strategic Planning; Cost Accounting; Business Combinations and Consolidated Reporting; Internal Audit; Budget and Cost Control; Forecasting and Financial Modeling. Qualifications: - Experience in a manufacturing environment; specific experience with pet food products is a plus - Experience with foreign operations, specifically in South America - Strong background in cost accounting and inventory management - Demonstrated operations analysis skills and experience - Experience in systems implementation and contemporary manufacturing concepts such as lean manufacturing, demand flow, etc. - Experience with cash management and improving working capital performance - Strong background with internal controls, adapting or developing practical and effective accounting and process controls - Successful candidate must be detail orientated as well as provide financial stewardship at the business strategy level. - Candidate should be aggressive, ambitious and lead by example - Strong leader willing to drive change and accept responsibility and accountability - A team player - High energy and results-oriented with strong personal drive and a keen sense of urgency - Ability to travel to both manufacturing facilities located in Kansas and South America-Paraguay - Bilingual Spanish a plus Redbarn offers a challenging work environment and a competitive compensation package.
